About

Me!

Nicholas Yeo, 17, Diploma in Communications & Media Management (Mass Communications) student at Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore.

I’m interested in stationery, pens, travel, people, places, music (I play the Piano and I currently am taking ABRSM 8), decadent food, indulgent literature and tennis.

Palpable+P2, meaning “Photographic Perspectives”, is my photography-blog. No, I am not a personality, though artists exist in things they create. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors. To define is to limit your perception. Leave doors open to the endless possibilities of your imagination.

Rather than perpetually re-blogging every other tumblr, I try to upload photographs that I have taken. Hi-res versions are available by clicking as well. Hope they’re nice. Feel free to use them, just not commercially. Thank you for attribution.

Oh, and I’m sorry if my real-life depicting photos shock you out of your idealistic utopian tumblr state of beauty. The lines between both the beautiful and the damned are quite the same, in this brave new world of ours.

Camera: Nikon D300

Lenses: Nikon 18-200MM f/3.5-5.6G + Nikon 50mm f/1.8E (MF) + Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D. Others include the Tamron SP AF28-75/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro, Nikkor Zoom 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5s Macro (MF)

The 18-200 lens I use is very versatile at zoom/wide angles. However there is pronounced distortion at angles and especially of lines, due mostly to the complicated lens elements inside. Nevertheless, convenient and efficient, handy during travels and exploration.

The other one I mainly use, a 50mm lens, is lovely when it comes to bokeh shots and also for portraits. Due to the fact that it is a much earlier manual controlled version taken off of my dad’s old Nikon FG20, it is cool, made of metal and with a external aperture setting. However, the camera’s electronic metering don’t function. Nevertheless, great prime lens that offers untouched clarity and detail.

Things I enjoy capturing are architecture, landscapes, travel, food, animals/nature and abstract things. I like high-dynamic range and other concepts that interest me are decay, bokeh and tiltshift, though of course decay is hard to capture in a city that is facing an almost severe land crunch.

Sincerely,

Nicholas
